Germany's best receptionist is Marcel Siriwardena from Mandarin Oriental Munich
AICR with Germany final of the international competition for service quality in the hotel industry - Tessa Dittmann achieved second place - Vanessa Leekes third
Baden-Baden, November 6th, 2018 - Outstanding performance and a lot of empathy are the key factors for excellent service quality: The 10 candidates for the "Receptionist of the year", the international competition of the AICR, proved this at the Germany finale at the Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa Baden-Baden. Marcel Siriwardena, front office employee at Mandarin Oriental Munich, won the highly demanding contest. His colleague Tessa Dittmann (also Mandarin Oriental Munich) came second. Third place went to Vanessa Leekes from Villa Kennedy, a Rocco Forte Hotel in Frankfurt / Main.

"At the 23rd Roty Contest, we were able to experience outstanding performance in terms of service quality and guest orientation - despite all the increased examination conditions - from all ten candidates," summarized Miriam Ziemer, President of AICR Germany. For the first time, a multiple choice test with selected specialist questions from assessment centers of the leading hotel management universities EHL, Glion and Les Roches was carried out at this best selection. The following day, the young professionals had to prove themselves in an RPG with two “guests” and tricky events. "As expected, the further development of the contest procedure has a very positive effect: On the one hand, the aspirants have more time for preparations, on the other hand, the very important practical text continues to gain in importance," stated AICR Germany Vice President Arian Röhrle.
For the first time, the candidates had to apply for the final with a two-minute video. With the successful participation in the finals, all young talents were able to receive a certificate for service quality, which is a meaningful document for their own curriculum vitae (CV). Participation in the “Receptionist of the year” has long been established as a quality feature for hotel careers. Even those who do not reach the coveted podium of the top three can successfully do talent marketing for themselves with the nomination for the internationally renowned AICR career contest.
